Reports of antisemitism have surged of late, dominating headlines about the comments of prominent celebrities. But we need not look only to secular society for antisemitism. There is a long tradition of antisemitism in left-leading religious coalitions.
In July the Presbyterian Church (USA) General Assembly equated Israel with old racist South Africa, declaring that Israeli practices towards the Palestinians “fulfill the international legal definition of apartheid.” It urged Presbyterians to work for “appropriate ways to bring an end to Israeli apartheid.”
Even among liberal Protestants, the PCUSA has been particularly in the vanguard of anti-Israel advocacy. The PCUSA’s Stated Clerk bizarrely used Martin Luther King Day earlier this year to claim that the “continued occupation in Palestine/Israel is 21st-century slavery” and specifically implored the “Jewish community in the United States” to advocate for ending this “immoral enslavement,” as King would have desired. In 2014, the PCUSA adopted divestment against several companies doing business with Israel.

About the only country that amnesty international hasn’t found blame with is Iceland.
The Palestinians who live and reside in Israel are citizens there. The Palestinians in occupied territories are not citizens . Maybe if the Palestinians/Arabs would stop trying to kill Jews, things could settle down and a little peace might take place. That’s not biblical so I doubt that will occur if ever. Amnesty international has a slanted view on anything and everything that falls outside their point of view. Why everyone worries about the whales, elephants, and polar bears but, would allow for the extermination of all Jews is beyond me.

Is being opposed to the invasion of Ukraine the same as hating all Russians? The fact is Israel has put itself in the company of Russia and China in that it seeks territorial expansion by force. It regards itself as a divine-right democracy. When subject to criticism, it hides behind the corpses of the Holocaust. Curiously, Jews have more religious freedom in the US than in Israel.—consider their marriage laws.

First of all to Jeff, please read Proverbs 18:2 every time you see a posting by David, it will greatly reduce your stress.
Then on the subject of the so called “Religious Left.” When are you going to realize that although they still claim to be Christian, they have formed a strange new religion and have long since disavowed the teaching of Jesus. Besides, the denominations are declining into oblivion, they are literally becoming as irrelevant as David.

I’ve known that for a while. now. Its truth was boldly underscored a couple years ago when I read J. Gresham Machen’s “Christianity and Liberalism” — first published in 1923. This American-European phase of that age-old “strange new religion” has been in the making for more than a hundred years.

I have read the same book. What you seem to have missed, that although they are now making more noise than ever, literally every one of the major denominations is declining at a rate that makes the actual date of their demise statistically predictable.

Today in Israel, the Palestinian terrorists set off bombs that killed one and wounded several others. Would like to hear from the Presbyterians, amnesty international, and David about how this was justified. The perpetrators may be up for the Nobel peace prize next year. Like I said. Jew haters have been around for a long long time.
