Marc LiVecche is IRD’s just war and Christian ethics scholar. He is also executive editor of IRD’s foreign policy and national security journal, Providence. From the fall of 2018 to 2020, he is also the McDonald Visiting Scholar at the the McDonald Centre for Theology, Ethics, & Public Life at Christ Church, Oxford University.
Prior to joining IRD, he completed doctoral studies at the University of Chicago, where he worked under the supervision of the political theorist Jean Bethke Elshtain until her death in August, 2013. His dissertation, entitled With Malice Toward None: The Moral Ground for Killing in War, takes a classic just war view of the question of killing in its theological and ethical dimensions in part as a response to the crisis of moral injury. It will be published by Oxford University Press as The Good Kill: Just War & Moral Injury in 2020.
