IRD Launches Wednesday Worship Initiative

Collin Bastian on July 11, 2022

The Institute on Religion and Democracy was pleased to launch a new initiative on Wednesday, July 6 aimed at fostering Christian fellowship within the District of Columbia. Dubbed “Wednesday Worship,” IRD plans to host prominent Christian leaders to deliver sermons, pray, and facilitate worship on the first Wednesday of every month at noon.

The inaugural Wednesday Worship featured Ben Palka, a pastor and DC church planter of King’s Church DC, spoke to the congregation assembled at IRD on the passage of Ecclesiastes 1: 1-11, pointing out the apparent impermanence and meaninglessness of our works in the physical world apart from the saving redemption that Jesus Christ offers in His defeat of sin and death.

If you are interested in joining IRD for worship, please contact Collin Bastian at cbastian@theird.org.

This is a great event to start a great program. I hope it expands greatly in the coming years. Well done, and please send a special invite to all the people at the UM Building on Maryland Ave NE. Make sure the members of the General Board of Church and Society get individual invitations.

If Charles Wesley can change drinking song melodies in to hymn melodies, maybe something good can happen there too.

The work of IRD is made possible by your generous contributions.
