The New Religious Left?

on May 5, 2020

Jack Jenkins of Religion News Service has written an important new book on the Religious Left called American Prophets: The Religious Roots of Progressive Politics and the Ongoing Fight for the Soul of the Country.

Here’s my video interview with Jenkins on his book, which focuses on progressive religious activism’s resurgence during the Obama and Trump years.

As I note in our talk, Jenkins and I disagree about the Religious Left’s policy choices. But we agree about the Religious Left’s too often overlooked influence, especially compared to the always much more discussed Religious Right.

And the Religious Left, which once centered around Mainline Protestant church agencies and ecumenical councils, has become far more diversified, as Jenkins explains.

I hope you enjoy our conversation.
