The Institute on Religion and Democracy hosted Dr. Daniel Houck in Washington, D.C., to deliver our Wednesday Worship sermon on July 15.
Houck, a Baptist pastor, spoke to the IRD staff on John chapter 15:1-7 and 16 (Jesus as the True Vine) titled “The Branch Life.”
The monthly gathering aims to foster Christian fellowship within the greater Washington area. IRD hosts prominent Christian leaders to deliver sermons, pray, and facilitate worship.
Houck has served as senior pastor of Calvary Hill Baptist Church in Fairfax, Virginia, since 2018. His goal is to lead people to grow in knowledge and love of Jesus Christ. Having grown up in McLean, he was happy to return to Northern Virginia with his wife, Katie.
Before coming to Calvary Hill, he completed his MDiv at Princeton Theological Seminary, a PhD in theology at Southern Methodist University, and worked as a research fellow at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. He teaches theology at the John Leland Center for Theological Studies and is an author and speaker on the topic of Christianity and science.
