Sarah Stewart on March 20, 2024

The Institute on Religion and Democracy hosted the Rev. Mark Michael of St. Francis Episcopal Church in Potomac, Maryland on March 20 for our “Wednesday Worship” noonday prayer and luncheon.

The monthly gathering aims to foster Christian fellowship within the greater Washington area. IRD hosts prominent Christian leaders to deliver sermons, pray, and facilitate worship.

Fr. Michael, an Episcopal priest, spoke to the IRD staff and guests on the passage of Jeremiah 31:31-34, “In My Blood.”

Video of the worship service can be accessed below.

Fr. Michael is a native of rural Western Maryland. He is a graduate of Duke University and Wycliffe Hall, Oxford. Prior to moving to Potomac, Father Mark served Saint Timothy’s Episcopal Church in Herndon, Virginia; Christ Episcopal Church in Cooperstown, New York; and Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church in Sharpsburg, Maryland and was assistant chaplain and a history and religion master at Saint James School. He and his wife Allison have two sons and a dog.

Fr Mark is a brilliant man. I met him twenty years ago in western Maryland when he was studying for the priesthood and led a Bible study for the church I was attending at the time.
