On November 16, The Institute on Religion and Democracy was pleased to host Mark David Hall, the Herbert Hoover Distinguished Professor of Politics at George Fox University, who gave a lecture on the “Threat” of Christian Nationalism. Hall analyzed various methods for measuring Christian Nationalism, including the system devised by Andrew Whitehead and Samuel Perry in their well-known book, Taking America Back for God: Christian Nationalism in the United States, and proposed an alternative system to measure Christian Nationalism instead.
Then, according to Hall’s own system, he judged whether the Christian Nationalist movement was sufficiently large or dangerous enough to be a credible threat to the rule of law in the United States, and provided his own critiques of Christian Nationalist thought.

I would agree that Trumpism is a fridge ideology, however, history proves that radical sects do not follow rational/logical thought. Revisionist movements rarely argue in good faith and the fact that this group of people were bold enough to attack the Capital and then had the intent to take captives and potentially hang the Vice President shows that this is something that needs to be dealt with before this ideology is allowed to spread and create more followers and become even more fully entrenched in mainstream life as well as being harder to dispute.
I would advise Mr. Hall to go on Twitter or other right-wing extremist websites and social media and not consider this to be a threat. This movement is corrosive to our body politic and has no other purpose than to divide and conquer.

“If you hear someone use the term “Christian Nationalism” loosely and sloppily, you might try this as a comeback. ‘Oh, so do you prefer Pagan Tribalism? Or Atheist Globalism? Because those seem to be the alternatives on offer.’”

I saw the phrase “credible threat to the rule of law” and I laughed out loud. We don’t have the rule of law in the US anymore. BTW we know that Jan 6 was an FBI set up so Mr. Hall can come out from under his bed.
