Tony Perkins interviews Faith McDonnell on Sudan

on August 5, 2020

On the Monday, August 3, edition of Washington Watch with Tony Perkins I had the opportunity to speak about the current situation in Sudan in a program that was completely devoted to discussing the changes taking place in that nation.

We are at a point in history where we have seen changes in Sudan that we never imagined: Sudan’s transitional government has opened the door to religious freedom with some steps in the right direction. The country’s apostasy law has been abolished. Public flogging and FGM have been banned.

Tony and I discuss this issue, as well as the legal and cultural reforms that still need to happen in order for all Sudanese, whether from Khartoum, Nubia, Darfur, Blue Nile, Beja Land, or the Nuba Mountains, to have equal rights, just treatment, and freedom of religion.

I also participated in Washington Watch with guest host, Sarah Perry, on July 15 to talk about Sudan. This was immediately after news was received of Khartoum’s stunning abolishing of the apostasy law. You can listen to our discussion here:
