Here’s video of my interview yesterday with journalist and longtime IRD board member Fred Barnes, co-founder of the late Weekly Standard and now with the Washington Examiner. For many years Barnes was on The McLaughlin Group, where host John McLaughlin called him Fred “The Beetle” Barnes. In this conversation Barnes recalls his Christian conversion when a young journalist and extols Anglicanism, discussing its growth in the Washington, D.C. area. He also shares his hope for the church and for revival in America.

Mark, your interview with Fred “Beatle” Barnes exceeded outstanding, a most pleasurable 23 minutes that brought back many pleasant memories. Among them, after reaching the 10-year mark working in Washington, DC I was ecstatic when the fast-paced show, The McLaughlin Group, first aired, and that’s where I “met” Fred Barnes. The sparring between Fred, Eleanor Clift, Mort Kondracke and with referee John McLaughlin stirring the pot, the group was politically savvy and entertaining.
It was inspiring to hear Fred’s testimony of accepting Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, and bonding together with his wife as servants of the Lord. I recall the time he was discipling his friend Mort Kondracke and becoming prayer partners with him while Mort’s wife was near death.
Watching the video story of Fred Barnes’ testimony was a joyful experience. Thank you.
