VIDEO: Watch Providence Journal’s Official Launch Event

The Institute on Religion and Democracy (IRD) hosted the official launch event for its new magazine, Providence: A Journal of Christianity & American Foreign Policy, at the Newseum on Friday, November 6. Providence seeks to provide Evangelicals and Protestants with informed, conservative perspectives on international issues.

Journalists, academics, activists and others joined IRD staff at the event to hear from a range of respected thinkers on important foreign policy issues. These speakers included:

Mark Tooley, Institute on Religion & Democracy, President
William Kristol, The Weekly Standard, Founder
Robert Nicholson, The Philos Project, Executive Director
Joseph Loconte, Kings College, Professor of History
Marc LiVecche, Providence, Managing Editor
Paul Marshall, Hudson Institute Center for Religious Freedom, Senior Fellow
David Shedd, Patrick Henry College, former acting Director, Defense Intelligence Agency
Faith McDonnell, Institute on Religion & Democracy, Religious Liberty Director
Michael Cromartie, Ethics and Public Policy Center
Keith Pavlischek, retired USMC colonel and military ethicist

Starting off the morning, Tooley introduced Providence and its mission. LiVecche followed by moderating a panel with Loconte, Cromartie, Pavlischek on the relationship between Christianity and foreign policy.

Bill Kristol followed with a lunchtime speech about the important role that resources like Providence play in keeping conservatives informed on vital foreign policy issues.

Finishing the event, Nicholson moderated a panel with Marshall, Shedd and McDonnell addressing current challenges in the Middle East.
