Stand With Thomas Peters

on November 14, 2013

Thomas Peters, a blogger at CatholicVote and the Communications Director for the National Organization for Marriage, is one of the ablest young voices speaking up for life and marriage in the public square. If you are unfamiliar with Thomas’ story over the past few months, you should acquaint yourself with this blog. Few things are more inspiring. You see, in July of this year Thomas suffered a serious injury and has been hospitalized the majority of the time since. His story is nothing short of miraculous, as he describes in his first writing since the injury:

“I have no memory of the accident itself. By God’s grace, someone spotted me floating facedown in the water and started dragging me to the shore. Had I not been seen, I would have surely died. By God’s grace, I was injured on one of the only two days of the year when a group of EMTs gathered less than a mile away for training, so I received prompt medical care for my drowning damage. Had it not been that particular day, help would have been about twenty minutes away and I would have sustained brain damage. And by God’s grace there was a field nearby large enough for a rescue helicopter to land and transport me to the University of Maryland Medical Center’s Shock Trauma Center, the best unit of its kind in North America. Had I not received the benefit of the best possible care so soon, my recovery would have been unalterably impaired.”

Friends of Thomas have organized today, November 14th, as #IStandWithThomasPeters day to encourage prayers and fundraise for the medical expenses.

“Thomas has always been a vocal advocate for life, marriage, and the faith. Throughout this whole journey, Thomas and Natalie have remained steadfast, and have been a shining example of marriage, love, and the faith. We are watching miracles happen every day, in Thomas and Natalie’s lives, but also in the lives of the people who have been touched by their story

On #IStandwithThomasPeters day, we also hope to raise funds to help Thomas and Natalie during this new transition and Thomas’ continued recovery. The medical bills are piling up and the transition home has been costly.”

Please consider showing your solidarity with a fellow Christian – Of people my age, there are few greater witnesses who are taking a stand for Christ than Thomas Peters. Pray, give, and share his story with others. Visit their website here.
