IRD President Mark Tooley was interviewed for a PBS NewsHour segment on evangelicals and immigration reform.

“It’s very problematic when people of faith start to claim that the Bible gives a very direct guidance on a contemporary political issue, because the Bible is not a political platform,” says Tooley. Though immigration reform is championed by some elites of the Evangelical movement, it remains to be seen if their constituents are as committed.

    Good job by Mark.

What seems to be misunderstood by many of the politically active clergy in this piece is that being hospitable to the immigrant does not require supporting policies that would eventually nullify the reasons immigrants want to come to the US in the first place.
