The Religious Left Wants to Distract from the 9-11 Anniversary

The Religious Left does not want to commemorate 9-11 because the Religious Left does not want to acknowledge the evil and danger of radical Islam. One Evangelical Left figure, Shane Claiborne, advocates remembering 9-11 by donating $911 to Christian Peacemaking Teams (CPT). Claiborne himself served with CPT’s team in Iraq in 2003, hoping to defend Iraq from the impending U.S. led invasion.

Here’s my article. Believe it or note, Claiborne actually speaks in a lot of United Methodist churches.

IRD’s Religious Liberty Director Faith McDonnell prefers to commemorate 9-11 by actually remembering the actual victims. Here are her series of articles. We should not forget.

This pacifism in our churches, personified by activists like Claiborne, has a long and sad history. John D. Rockefeller, Jr. built a whole cathedral for pacifist Henry Emerson Fosdick to espouse liberal theology and pacifism. Fosdick even opposed military resistance to Hitler. Here’s my article about Fosdick’s Riverside Church and what’s happened there over the last 80 years, including the recent forced resignation of its “fundamentalist” pastor, who evidently mentioned Jesus too often.

United Methodists, Anglicans and others are grateful to conservative Christians in the developing world who refuse to compromise their faith in Christ and the Bible. But liberal inroads have invaded some parts of South America and Africa, mostly thanks to Western dollars and intervention. Read Anglican staffer Jeff Walton’s report about South African Anglicans adopting a pro-homosexuality stance.

An Anglican deacon was recently murdered in southern Sudan, where Christians have struggled for survival for decades against the Islamist regime in Khartoum. But the plight of persecuted Christians rarely, if ever, interests Western church bureaucrats and groups like the World Council of Churches. The outgoing chief of the world council blasted away at Israel as sinful, while saying not a word about Iran, North Korea, Sudan or countless other repressive regimes. Only America and Israel merit condemnation, these church prelates believe. Here’s my article.

So much wrong in our world! But God remains on His throne, doesn’t He? We trust in His plans, even as so many church officials fail to live up to their high calling. The IRD will continue to challenge and expose, believing you have a right to know. Please consider a donation now to IRD, made easily here. Your gift to the IRD is a vote for the future of our churches.
