Bibles, Badges and Business (BBB) has announced an upcoming event called “Bibles, Badges, and Business to DC” to rally for U.S. Senate legislation to legalize about 11 million illegal immigrants. Listed endorsers include Jim Wallis’ Sojourners and the National Association of Evangelicals. BBB is a project of the National Immigration Forum, which is heavily funded by leftist philanthropist George Soros.l
The event will convene on the morning of Wednesday, June 12, and will be followed by a ‘Day of Action’ on Capitol Hill. The morning briefing will feature a keynote address by Haley Barbour, former Mississippi governor current co-chair of the Bipartisan Policy Center Immigration Force.
The invitation urges: “Tell Congress that those who hold a Bible, wear a badge or own a business want commonsense immigration reform, and be a part of the historic moment when the Senate passes a bill that is good for all Americans.”
BBB was launched as a project of the National Immigration Forum (NIF) in 2012 to bring together religious groups, law enforcement, and business leaders in favor of immigration “reform.” Long time Religious Left organizer Jim Wallis of Sojourners is an avid supporter. Sojourners and the National Association of Evangelicals are among several religious groups co-sponsoring the June event.
The National Immigration Forum, as reported earlier this week, receives a substantial amount of funding from George Soros’ Foundation to Promote Open Society, formerly known as the Open Society Institute. In 2010 the NIF received more than half of its total funding that year from the Foundation to Promote Open Society, $1.75 million. Its 2010 budget had $3.2 million in income and $4.5 in expenses. The NIF has received $3,807,152 from Soros’ foundation since 2009, and a total of $5,107,152 over the past ten years. It also receives large contributions from the liberal Tides Foundation and the Ford Foundation. Sojourners, too, has received large contributions from the Foundation to Promote Open Society.
The National Immigration Forum is also funding a new media campaign promoting the Senate immigration bill on behalf of the Evangelical Immigration Table.
