Religiously-Motivated Violence: Why Does It Happen, What Can We Do?

on July 18, 2019

This morning IRD sponsored a discussion of religiously-motivated violence, why it happens, and what to do about it. The event was one of several presented alongside the U.S. State Department’s second Ministerial to Advance Religious Freedom.

The Ministerial brings together leaders from around the world to discuss the challenges facing religious freedom, identify means to address religious persecution and discrimination worldwide, and promote greater respect and preservation of religious liberty for all. This event focuses on concrete outcomes that reaffirm international commitments to promote religious freedom and produce real, positive change.

Panelists at IRD’s side event included Professor Dr. Thomas Johnson (International Institute for Religious Freedom); IRD Board Chair Dr. Paul Marshall (Wilson Professor of Religious Freedom at Baylor University); and Jacob Rudenstrand (Swedish Evangelical Alliance).
