Top 5 Church-Affiliated Events Coinciding with March for Life 2019

The March for Life, the largest pro-life demonstration in the world, is in its 46th year and heralds a brand new theme: “Unique from Day One.”

The Almighty’s Church too is charged to testify that unborn life is created “unique from day one.” The seemingly simple theme carries an enormous message. That is, despite worldly and bodily circumstances, every single life is created by God at conception, bears His image, is blessed by Him with inherent dignity, and granted a distinctive plan and purpose. (Genesis 1:26-28; Jeremiah 29:11)

Thankfully, more and more church-affiliated pro-life events are planned in conjunction with the annual March for Life, occurring on Friday, January 18 in Washington, D.C.

These church-affiliated events aim to equip Christians to advance a pro-life witness, promote human dignity, and pray for an end to abortion. Please consider participating in or prayerfully supporting the March for Life and coinciding events below:

(1.) United Methodist Pro-Life Service

United Methodists are invited to gather for a special worship service in celebration of the sanctity of human life on the morning of the annual March for Life.

Join the Taskforce of United Methodists on Abortion & Sexuality, also known as Lifewatch, for the annual service of worship at 9:30 a.m., Friday, January 18, in the chapel of the United Methodist Building located at 100 Maryland Avenue in Washington, D.C. next to the United States Supreme Court.

Bishop Timothy W. Whitaker, Former Episcopal Leader of the Florida Area of the United Methodist Church and a leading Methodist voice on orthodoxy and life, will lead the service. In 2005, Bishop Whitaker made United Methodist history as the first U.S. bishop in modern times to give a major pro-life address.

(2.) 2019 Lutheran Church Missouri Synod Life Conference

The 2019 Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) Life Conference is scheduled for Jan. 17–19, 2019, at the Westin Arlington Gateway Hotel in Arlington, Virginia. The conference is open to all LCMS members and guests.

On the morning of the March for Life, all are welcome to join the LCMS at 9:00 a.m. for a Divine Service at The Westin Arlington Gateway Hotel Arlington, Virginia.  After the Divine Service, participants will travel together by Metro to the march.

(3.) YSummit 2019: Mobilizing Young Anglicans for Life

 Anglican youth are invited to participate in the first ever YSummit: Mobilizing Young Anglicans for Life hosted by Anglicans for Life and the Anglican Diocese of the Mid-Atlantic. The youth summit will take place on Thursday, January 17 at 6:00 p.m. at the Falls Church Anglican located at 6565 Arlington Boulevard in Falls Church, Virginia.

Speakers will include Sammie Franks, coordinator of Ministry Outreach for Anglicans for Life, pro-life advocate David Bereit, the former CEO of 40 Days for Life, and Mallory Quigley, the vice president of Communications for Susan B. Anthony List.

Anglicans for Life describe their youth summit as follows:

We want the youth in Anglican churches to fully understand the worth of every human life, including their own. Centered around the abundant life that Jesus gives us, this conference, through worship, fellowship, and engaging speakers, will connect the Gospel with the social justice issue of life, helping students see how they can make a difference for the Kingdom here on earth.

(4.) Anglicans for Life Summit: Mobilizing the Church for Life

Anglicans of all ages are invited to join the fourth-annual Anglicans for Life Summit 2019 on Thursday, January 17, at the Falls Church Anglican in Falls Church, Virginia. The event is co-sponsored by Anglicans for Life and the Anglican Diocese of the Mid-Atlantic and will feature keynote speakers, workshops, prayer, and worship.

Keynote speakers will include Dcn. Georgette Forney, President of Anglicans for Life, Ryan T. Anderson, Senior Research Fellow at the Heritage Foundation, Alveda King, Director of Civil Right for the Unborn, Priests for Life and Founder of Alveda King Ministries, Rev. Rick Bergh, a Thanatologist, author and counselor, David Bereit, Pro-Life Advocate and Former CEO of 40 Days for Life. Bishop John Guernsey will deliver the closing prayer.

An Anglican prayer and worship service will take place at 9:15 a.m. on Friday, January 18 at the Falls Church Anglican prior to participants joining the March for Life.

(5.) Evangelicals for Life

The Southern Baptist Convention’s North American Mission Board and Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission are hosting the annual Evangelical for Life Conference January 16-18, 2019. Over three days, attendees will hear from over fifty speakers including advocates, ministers, and scholars about the dignity of human life and will learn how to stand up for the vulnerable. The event will take place at McLean Bible Church located at 8925 Leesburg Pike, Vienna, Virginia.

*The 46th annual March for Life rally will begin at noon Eastern time on Friday, Jan. 18, at 12th Street on the National Mall, between Jefferson Drive and Madison Drive (near the Smithsonian American History Museum).

Following the rally, the march will begin on Constitution Avenue between 12th and 14th Streets at approximately 1 p.m.
