UCC Pastor: In Praise of Planned Parenthood

on October 25, 2016

United Church of Christ (UCC) Pastor Neichelle R. Guidry Jones praised Planned Parenthood’s conception as an “act of courage and resistance” during an invocation at a centennial celebration for the nation’s largest abortion provider last week, as Charisma News reported.

Guidry Jones, who serves as the Associate Pastor to Young Adults at Chicago’s Trinity United Church of Christ, began her prayer saying, “We celebrate today that on Oct. 16, 1916, Margaret Sanger opened the doors of the first Planned Parenthood clinic.” Planned Parenthood was the means for “women to overcome the silence and the shame and the stigma inflicted on our sexuality,” Guidry Jones said.

Perhaps the most stomach-churning portion of the prayer was when Guidry Jones asked the Almighty to “call us on to press and fight” on behalf of the abortion giant. “We can’t do this alone,” she prayed. “We might be many, but with You we have been mighty. So come into our gathering with Your presence and Your insight and Your peace and Your power.”

She continued on, “Come with Your unity that we might be ready when You call. Call on us to stand, call us on us to press and fight, to speak to move and to march on into the next 100 years of Planned Parenthood.”

In 2015, the Institute on Religion and Democracy’s Jeffrey Walton reported two UCC officials and 42 other Religious Left leaders released a statement calling for continued federal funding for Planned Parenthood. Among the signatories was UCC General Minister and President John C. Dorhauer and UCC Executive and Minister for Health and Wholeness Advocacy. The statement read:

As religious leaders, we urge Congress to resist efforts to deny federal funds to Planned Parenthood’s non-profit health centers, and other organizations that provide crucial reproductive health care. We ask for an end to politically motivated attacks on women’s sexual and reproductive health. We know that Planned Parenthood provides essential lifesaving services to almost three million people each year, including the most vulnerable families in the U.S. As religious leaders, we support family planning as a means of saving lives, improving reproductive and public health, enhancing sexuality, and encouraging intentional parenthood. We stand with people of faith who have supported Planned Parenthood for nearly one hundred years.

Planned Parenthood, America’s largest abortion business, has played its part in extinguishing millions of unborn lives since its conception on October 16, 1916. Millions of innocent lives extinguished. Most followers of Jesus Christ lament such an atrocity, not praise one of its catalysts. May God have mercy on Church leaders who refuse to “press and fight” for the sanctity of all human life.

Based on a recent discussion in church, it appears this woman committed an unpardonable sin by blaspheming the Holy Spirit. The discussion about unpardonable sin concluded that it is ascribing evil works to God and praising Him for the evil works. Anybody else agree?

One of the great delusions of liberals (and there are so many to choose from) is that whatever they do is “courageous.” It never crosses their feeble little minds that there is nothing remotely courageous in 2016 about siding with the secular left on abortion, homosexuality, anything. Somehow they imagine themselves as living in the time of Ozzie and Harriett and June and Ward Cleaver, and they’re taking a brave stand against Bigotry and Oppression.
