Providence magazine, the foreign policy journal Institute on Religion & Democracy (IRD), hosted an event at The Heritage Foundation on Thursday, June 16, to launch its third issue. The launch included a panel discussion titled “The Role of Religion in Addressing Conflict in the Middle East” and explored how religious ideals influenced combatants. Panelists included Katharine Gorka, President and Co-Founder of Council on Global Security; Marc LiVecche, Managing Editor of Providence; and Olivia Enos, research associate in the Asian Studies Center at The Heritage Foundation.
IRD President and Providence Editor Mark Tooley introduced the panel with remarks about the purpose of Providence. He discussed how the magazine filled a void by providing a platform for thoughtful Protestant discussion about foreign policy and helped create community among Evangelical foreign policy thinkers.
Heritage estimated that 80 people attended the event. Video of event is available courtesy of Heritage.
