The Rev. Andrew Irwin is an Anglican priest, chaplain, public theologian, and Doctor of Ministry candidate at Asbury Theological Seminary, where his research brings together preaching, leadership, missiology, and the renewal of Christian witness in a post-Christian age. He also holds postgraduate theological training from Trinity College Dublin and has written on questions of disability, human dignity, ecclesial renewal, and the public responsibilities of the Church.

He serves as Minister-in-Charge of St Paul’s and St Barnabas in inner-city North Belfast, leading a historic parish through spiritual and missional renewal amid poverty, division, institutional decline, and social fragmentation. His writing emerges from the meeting point of serious theological reflection and daily pastoral ministry.

Confessing the historic creeds, shaped by the Anglican formularies, and centred on the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, Irwin explores the Church’s public witness in an age marked by cultural exhaustion and what he describes as a growing poverty of hope. He calls the Church beyond managerial survival, nostalgia, and retreat, towards theological clarity, prophetic courage, sacrificial service, and renewed confidence in the gospel’s power to restore people, communities, and public life.
