Bishop Steve Wood

Anglican Bishop Steve Wood, COVID-19 and “Beauty from Ashes”

on May 9, 2020

Bishop Steve Wood was released from the hospital following 10 days on a ventilator amidst treatment for COVID-19. An otherwise healthy man in his 50s who had not before been hospitalized, Wood is far from the image of elderly or medically compromised patients we regularly read about in the news.

The rector of St. Andrew’s Church and bishop for the Anglican Diocese of the Carolinas shares with the Institute on Religion & Democracy’s Jeff Walton about what sustained him during a period of intensive care, ongoing recovery and God bringing “beauty from ashes.”

I am thankful this interview was done. Thankful as it brings us to the knowledge that our beloved Bishop is back. Maybe not 100% but he will get there. Our faith was stong, our prayers were many. Our love for Bishop Steve and his entire family is abounding. As he stated, the media coverage made this virus very real to us all. This interviee makes his recovery just as real. We are blessed to have such a strong and faithful leader. Continued prayers and much love in Christ.

    Steve –
Watched Beauty from Ashes … enjoyed your authenticity and sharing of your experience. Glad you are on the mend to full recovery. I once heard there is “Beauty in the Ashes” as well!
Fond memories together … Living Waters in CA with John W. and you and the yellow woody station wagon from “rent a wreck”.
    In our prayers,
    Love you,
    Michael & Nancy

I am filled with thanksgiving and great joy that our shepherd will be back to lead his St. Andrews flock! I expect that the messages we hear will have many new and powerful insights from a man who came within breaths of losing his life. Steve, we so look forward to having you back!

Excellent interview and so uplifting with Bishop Steve’s ability to see Beauty coming from the ashes and his expectation to discover more blessings God will unfold as time goes on.
