GOOD NEWS: Supreme Court Rules in Favor of Masterpiece Cakeshop

on June 4, 2018

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favor of Christian baker Jack Phillips today in the highly anticipated case Masterpiece Cakeshop v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission. In a 7-2 decision, the Supreme Court acknowledged the state of Colorado discriminated against Phillips for operating his small business in accordance with his religious convictions concerning marriage.

“The Colorado Civil Rights Commission’s consideration of this case was inconsistent with the State’s obligation of religious neutrality. The reason and motive for the baker’s refusal were based on his sincere religious beliefs and convictions,”  wrote Justice Anthony Kennedy in his majority opinion, as Deseret News reported.

Christian legal organization Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) argued on behalf of Phillips. In a press release, ADF attorney Kristen Waggoner, who served as lead counsel on behalf of Phillips, said the court made the right decision because “government hostility toward people of faith has no place in our society.”

“The court was right to condemn that. Tolerance and respect for good-faith differences of opinion are essential in a society like ours. This decision makes clear that the government must respect Jack’s beliefs about marriage,” added Waggoner.

Phillips also expressed his thanksgiving for the court’s decision. “It’s hard to believe that the government punished me for operating my business consistent with my beliefs about marriage. That isn’t freedom or tolerance,” shared Phillips. “I’m so thankful to the U.S. Supreme Court for this ruling.”

Phillips’ legal battle started in 2012 after he politely declined to make a wedding cake for a same-sex couple. Phillips expressed he would happily create any other type of cake for the two gentlemen. But by using his skills to craft their wedding cake, Phillips felt he would be violating his deeply-held religious convictions.

Directly following the Supreme Court’s ruling, some Christian leaders took to social media to express their support and gratitude. Here are their reactions:

Finally some good news. Sadly the fight is a long way from over. The sin-seekers will continue in their relentless efforts to force everybody to fully support, not just accept but to actually support, their sins. If any one doubts this than I would bring your attention to something that has recently occurred in Canada. The Canadian federal government this year changed the application forms for government funding of student summer jobs so that applicants must now check a newly added box on the form that by doing so indicates that they support a woman’s reproductive rights (code for “we support abortion”). Note this is actually saying “support”. This year ALL applicants that did not check this box were denied the government funding.

This was a hate case from the beginning. Of course this gay couple could have found another baker who would have been glad to take their money and decorate a cake with anything they wanted on it. But no, they showed their hatred of him by hauling him before this obviously biased Colorado state commission. Of course the gay agenda people jumped in and took this on as a way to PUNISH not only this man, but all orthodox Christians by trying to FORCE them to abandon their faith through court action. This sounds like the historic tactics that have been used over the ages by tyrants and dictators. Thank God our Supreme Court has placed some brakes on the radical left and their totalitarian tactics — pointing out once again the SIGNIFICANCE of our First Amendment, especiallyfreedom of religion, and the absolute need to defend it all the way.

Thank God for Jack Phillips and his support network.

Praise God for Jack’s victory! However, let’s not overlook that this is but merely a scrap thrown under the table by the masters–in this instance, by a seven to two majority, who could have just as easily ruled against Phillips and would have had the constitutional authority to do so.

In turn, this is indicative that Christians have become the domionized rather than the dominionizers, as depicted by the Apostle Paul in Romans 13. Tragically, what was Christendom (Christians dominionizing society on behalf of their King) in early 17th-century America has devolved into merely four-walled, stain-glassed Christianity. The bulk of today’s Christians are best depicted by Christ in Matthew 5:13 as salt that’s lost its savor, good for nothing but to be trampled under the foot of man.

Progressive’s, by definition, reject what is past, in order to “progress.”
They do not believe in lying. When they lie they call their lie “new truth.” Ex.: they call homosexuals “gay.”
I urge all Christians to use the correct term, homosexual.
