Top 5 Church Affiliated Events Coinciding with the March for Life

on January 20, 2016

The March for Life is the nation’s premier pro-life event of the year. Hundreds of thousands will gather in Washington D.C. on Friday, January 22, 2016 to commemorate more than 55 million unborn lives lost to abortion in the United States since 1973 as well as celebrate the sanctity of life. But before the official March for Life gets underway, several Church affiliates are hosting pro-life events in conjunction with the March for Life.

Please consider participating in or prayerfully supporting one of the church affiliated pro-life events below:

(1.) Anglicans for Life

Anglican leadership has launched a very public pro-life stand. The bishops are igniting pro-life work in local churches with this year’s “Mobilizing the Church for Life 2016,” an all-day summit on Thursday, January 21, at the Falls Church Anglican. On Friday Morning, participants will gather at Columbia Baptist Church for a time of prayer and worship led by Archbishop Foley Beach before marching together in the March for Life.

Anglicans for Life’s summit will equip and mobilize church leaders and lay leaders to integrate pro-life ministry within their own churches and communities. Speakers will include John Stonestreet, president of Chuck Colson Center, and IRD board member William Saunders, Senior Vice President of Legal Affairs and Senior Council of Americans United for Life, in addition to several more pro-life experts and activists.

(2.) Evangelicals for Life

The Southern Baptist Convention’s Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission (ERLC) is partnering with Focus on the Family to host their inaugural Evangelicals for Life event, coinciding with the March for Life event. “I don’t want to see any fewer rosary beads at the March for Life, but I want to see more evangelicals here also at the March for Life,” said Dr. Russell Moore, president of the ERLC. “Our absence is a shame.”

Evangelicals for Life will gather together all-day Thursday and Friday morning at the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill. In addition to promoting the dignity and personhood of unborn babies, this conference will educate Evangelicals on issues including adoption and foster care, the effects of fatherlessness, holistic support for expecting mothers, and church-based ministry opportunities.

Another great Christian prayer service on the morning of the March for Life is the National Memorial for the Pre-Born and their Mothers and Fathers at Constitution Hall.

The work of IRD is made possible by your generous contributions.
