Young Evangelicals and Culture Wars

on June 17, 2012

This morning I attended a nearby United Methodist congregation that next month will host a prominent young liberal evangelical, Tony Jones, as a resident scholar. I look forward to hearing him speak. He and others like Jonathan Merritt and Rachel Evans are imploring evangelicals to step back from simmering debates over marriage, abortion and religious liberty.

Young evangelicals and culture wars are a hot topic. Yesterday, Family Research Council Vice President Rob Schwarzwalder quoted me in his column on this issue:

And yesterday World magazine radio interviewed me about these young evangelicals and culture wars: http://www.worldmag.com/podcast/worldandeverything.cfm?eid=1682.

Expect this debate among evangelicals to accelerate in the months and even years ahead.

Our kids (20s and 30s are not shrinking from political activity … they’re more radical than we are, PTL. They tie their “peers” up in knots at times, lol.
