William E. Simon Lecture

Evangelical Catholicism:
A Reformed Church in a Culture in Crisis

Given by
George Weigel
EPPC Distinguished Senior Fellow

Tuesday, February 5, 2013
6:30 p.m.

The Mayflower Hotel
1127 Connecticut Avenue NW
Washington, DC 20036

In this Simon Lecture, Mr. Weigel will trace the thesis of his new book, Evangelical Catholicism: Deep Reform in the 21st-Century Church, arguing that the Catholic Church is on the threshold of a bold new era in its two-thousand year history. As the curtain comes down on the Church defined by the 16th-century Counter-Reformation, the curtain is rising on the Evangelical Catholicism of the third millennium: a way of being Catholic—both ancient and new—that offers to the world a deeply humane alternative to the soul-stifling self-absorption of postmodernity, and that challenges deep currents in contemporary American culture.

The lecture will be held in the State Room with a reception to follow. Books will be available for purchase after the lecture.
Registration is required for this event. RSVP to swhite@eppc.org or 202-715-3512.
